China – Severe weather
• Heavy rain has continued to affect several areas of the country, causing more floods and landslides.
• According to national authorities, as of 12 July the death toll from heavy rain has reached 206 people, while 30 are still missing, over 206 100 have been evacuated, hundreds of thousands have been affected, and over 482 400 houses have been partially or fully damaged in several provinces of the country.
• As of the same date, the death toll due to the passage of TC NEPARTAK has risen to 11 people, with 23 people still missing, 248 600 evacuated and over 36 000 houses partially or fully damaged by the cyclone in the provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi and Guandong.

Guatemala – Severe weather
• Heavy rain has been affecting the country over the past few days, causing floods.
• As of 12 July, according to official reports, at least 160 houses have been partially or fully damaged, and over 960 people have been affected by floods in the departments of Suchitepéquez, Alta Verapaz, Escuintla and Izabal.

India – Severe weather
• As of 12 July 2016, heavy monsoon rains have claimed 15 lives in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, and affected approximately 134 287 people in five districts of the Eastern Indian state of Assam.
• According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), nine relief camps have been set up in Jorhat and Golaghat and approx. 7 820 hectares of crop area have been affected. Search and rescue efforts are being undertaken by the respective State Governments.

Nicaragua – Severe weather
• Heavy rain is affecting several areas of the country, especially the Caribbean coast, over the past few days, causing floods.
• As of 12 July, local media report that at least 3 900 people were evacuated, and 300 houses damaged in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region.

Syria – Conflict
• Since 7 July, hostilities between the Syrian army and non-state armed groups (AGs) have intensified in Aleppo city, putting the lives of thousands at risk. Air bombardments and fighting have taken place in northwest Idleb governorate, Rural Damascus, Homs and Dar’a in central and southern Syria. Communications have become extremely difficult; reports indicate that prices of basic commodities have risen sharply over a few days.
• Humanitarian organizations endeavour to maintain the delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout the country despite fighting and access restrictions.
• The UN has reiterated to all parties the obligation to protect civilians, and to facilitate humanitarian access to civilians living in Aleppo city.

South Sudan – Conflict
• Fighting erupted in Juba on 7 July 2016, and has intensified during the following days. According to preliminary estimates, about 270 people have been killed, including over 30 civilians. As of 11 July, preliminary estimates indicate that at least 36 000 people have been displaced by the fighting.
• The humanitarian situation is serious and needs are significant. Heavy rains in parts of Juba have worsened the situation, exposing displaced families who lack adequate shelter to the risk of illness.

India - Kashmir - Violence
• As of 10 July 2016, at least 21 civilians have died, and nearly 800 people (including security personnel) were injured in Kashmir valley following violent clashes between Indian security forces and civilians.
• A curfew has been imposed in large parts of Srinagar and several areas of south Kashmir.
Mobile internet services have been blocked across the valley.
